CREATIVE ARTS
Inspiring trips have enriched study
in the studio, with visits to the Royal
Academy’s summer exhibition,
an exhibition of Quentin Blake’s
illustration, Optical Art by Brigit Riley,
Jasper Johns pop art, Matisse, Monet and
the French in Exile, Gregory Crewdson
at the Photographer’s Gallery and the
Tate Modern’s collection. Specialist
workshops have included masterclasses
from Jeanette Barnes, Wig Sayell and
Kieran Stiles; as well as weekly life Kingham Sculpture Garden
drawing sessions delivered by Mrs
Lehmann. Our Second Form Special Art Reading in Oxford and Millie Roach
Status group travelled to Bilton Grange (Third Form) won second place for her
preparatory school to work alongside photograph under Magdelen Bridge. This
their artists in a Barbara Hepworth year, we also entered: Articulation Art
History public speaking competition,
inspired sculpture project. Maddie Holdsworth
where Joe Maw represented the school,
Royal Academy Summer Exhibition delivering a fascinating speech on
Basquait; The Royal Academy A Level
online Summer Exhibition; and Young
Art Oxford, where Hannah Marles, Ellie
Davies and Luna Tillo all successfully
had their work recognised and exhibited
at the Ashmolean Museum.
Our outreach programme continues
to gather strength, with numerous
workshops delivered by the Art
Department staff to prep and primary
school children.
This work, alongside Fifth Form ceramic
pots and First Form wire birds, were Heidi Linnell
exhibited at Kingham Lodge within
their Oxfordshire Artweeks display.
Bloxham also opened its studio doors
to Artweeks, to positive reviews. We
have entered the students’ work into
numerous competitions and met with
some success. The Specialist Craft Cover
Design 2018 was won by OB Charlotte
Gridley (Ry 15-17), with her painting of Jamie Levine
Alenka’s eyes (also the cover of the Art
Review). This magazine has a national
circulation to all primary and secondary Developments within the department
schools and art colleges. The Oxford have included the addition of screen-
Publishing company, Fairlight Books, printing to our facilities and the arrival
set a photography competition themed William Jervis Jamie Thomas of Claire Blackburn as our art technician

In March, we set our students the challenge of designing the cover of this year’s Bloxhamist. Their brief was simple – to create a cover showing an iconic
