The Old Bloxhamist Travel Scholarship Programme was generously established by the Old Bloxhamist Society in 2024/25. Each year, the Society offers up to two travel scholarships to young Bloxhamists wishing to travel overseas as part of their personal development, to conduct academic research or to make a contribution to another community.

eligibility

The Scholarships are promoted to current students for travel to take place after leaving school. They are open to any Bloxhamist who has attended the School for at least two years.

Eligible travel must take place within a year of the Scholarship being awarded. Successful candidates may travel to any country that is not their country of birth or nationality.

The Scholarships

The value of each scholarship is usually up to £1,000 paid in two instalments; the first £800 will be paid in advance to allow the successful candidate/s to make travel and accommodation arrangements. The remaining £200 will be paid on receipt of a written report of approximately 1,000 words. Written reports are required to be submitted within two months of returning from travel.

The Scholarship is not intended to cover all the scholar’s expenses and applicants must be prepared to supplement it.

No more than two travel scholarships will be awarded in any academic year.

how to apply

Applications will open annually on 1st January at 9am and close by 1st March at 5pm. All applications must be submitted in writing and must outline the purpose of the trip, an outline of the proposed itinerary and details of related costs. All applications should be addressed in the first instance to the Development Office at development@bloxhamschool.com

The selection process, by the OB Advisory Panel, will be carried out shortly after the application deadline and the successful applicants advised by the end of April.
