Nathaniel Fiennes, 21st Baron Saye and Sele, died on 20 January 2024 at the grand age of 103. Lord Saye and Sele was a familiar figure to many generations of Bloxhamists who would have encountered him and Lady Saye and Sele on school trips to Broughton Castle, which has been the family home since 1377. Many a Second Form historian will remember ‘Nat’ pointing out the portrait in the Great Hall of his ancestor William Fiennes, one of the leaders of the Parliamentary side in the Civil War, while others will have visited the castle on art trips and CCF field days. Lord Saye and Sele was a Governor of Bloxham School for thirty years, with his standing in the community and knowledge of the property business proving invaluable to the School over the years.
