Bloxham School is sad to announce the passing of David Guard, Housemaster of Egerton House between 1968 and 1973, on 27th October 2019.
A graduate of Cambridge University, David Guard arrived at Bloxham in 1961 and served as Head of Physics before becoming Housemaster of Egerton. In 1974, he and his wife Carmen left Bloxham and headed to Kuala Lumpur where he became an adviser on boarding education to the Malaysian government. In 1985 they set up their own agency, MABECS, to assist Malaysian students in finding places at UK universities. Latterly David and Carmen had retired to Bloxham.
They had four children, Tim, Tony, Nicola and Richard (Ry 79-82). Their grandsons Nat Smith (Cr 05-10) and Gabriel Smith (Eg 08-13) also attended Bloxham School.
The school offers its condolences to Carmen, their children and to all the family.
