Saturday 1st February saw the District Final of the Young Chef Competition. Nine budding young cooks, cooking three courses in two hours, fighting for two places in the South of England finals.

This District Final had students from Bloxham to Uxbridge and everywhere in between! Holly B., Fourth Form, competed with the following menu:

To Start:

Goats Cheese Creme Brulee with salted caramel crust

Served with Beetroot

For Main:

Pan friend Marinated Duck Breast with Pear

Served with Celeriac, Bacon and Savoy Cabbage

To Finish:

A Bag of 1980’s style sweets

After a hard fought day, Holly B. came in close second and was awarded the dish of the day for her main course. Mr Harvey, Head of Food and Nutrition, said: ‘Holly was amazing and has been rewarded for her dedication, focus and desire to learn and improve!’

Holly now takes her place in the Regional Finals with a place in the National Finals at stake. We wish Holly the best of luck for the next round.
