Siblings Izzy and Charlie Yates competed strongly at the International MGA World Pairs Competition, with Charlie fending off the competition to be crowned World Champion
After school on Thursday 11th September, Izzy and Charlie Yates travelled to Newark to compete in the International Mounted Games Association World Pairs Competition.
They both competed in three heats over Friday and Saturday morning, successfully earning themselves places in the semi finals. Izzy and her partner rode well throughout, finishing in 7th position overall, missing out on a place in the final by just one point. Having won each of their heats, Charlie and his partner Ben Hopkins from Chepstow, went on to win their semi final. The boys only managed a 2nd and a 3rd in the first two races of the ten race final and found themselves trailing by three points. However, some blinding performances in the next eight races saw them only drop another couple of points. This saw the boys be crowned World Champions, winning top spot by a comfortable margin over the competition.”
