Bloxham advanced into the quarter finals of the National Schools Plate with a hard-fought win at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.

Returning to the scene of their victory in the final of last year’s competition, Bloxham quickly asserted themselves with tries from two of their front row forwards, Charlie and Jack, to lead 12-0 at half-time.

Reigning Bowl champions King’s Worcester, whose backs had looked threatening throughout the first half, bounced back after the interval with a try and penalty to close the gap to four points before Bloxham’s forwards took control of the game, seeing put the game with a series of forward drives which led to a try for the third member of the side’s front row, Harry.

This was a gutsy display from a young side containing only three Upper Sixth Formers, and their reward is another away trip incredibly, their tenth in a row in cup competitions over this season and last this time to Merseyside for a quarter final against St Mary’s, Crosby.

Final score: King’s Worcester 8, Bloxham 17
