On Friday night Egerton did something a little different for their House Assembly, with 40 families taking part in the inaugural Great Egerton Bake Off, with Matron, Mr Best and Mr Thompson all donning their aprons too.
It was a tightly fought contest with some phenomenal efforts in the kitchen. Mr Thompson said “It gave us all a chance to do something a little different to the norm, and with the family.” Mr and Mrs Thompson and their son Rory also gave it a go and showed some good culinary skills as well.
With many families making the 7pm deadline for submissions, the judges (Mr Thompson and Mr Best) had a tough job on their hands. The winners, with some very impressive house icing, were Hugo and his Mum, followed by Josh and his Mum, who created some awesome Geographical related cakes (knowing the judge’s hobbies!). Rufus and his Mum and Ollie and his brother, Dan tied for third place.
A lovely early evening activity for the House community. We look forward to the House Quiz in early February, and the Ready, Steady, Cook challenge, coming soon!
