Congratulations to those that took part in the Model United Nations conference at Magdalen College School over the weekend.
Katie T goes into greater detail on the event:
“Model United Nations is where pupils from different schools come together to debate current political issues, in a format that is meant to mirror a real United Nations Conference. Each pupil represents a different country, and we are put into committees and given topics to debate. We must argue with the same mindset, put forward the same points of view and vote for the same policies that a delegate (which is a person elected to represent a country or organisation) from our country would in a real UN conference. We have to use the same formal language that delegates use and work together with delegates from other schools to write policies that we think would help solve real-world issues.”
Well done to all those who took part, here are the students that won awards:
- Katie T – Highly commended delegate
- Alex M – Commended Delegate
- Ben L – Best Judge Award in the International Court of Justice
