Friday night’s Gala Concert saw a bustling audience enjoy a wonderful evening of music, put on by the Chapel Choir and orchestra
Bloxham hosted a spectacular Gala Concert in the Great Hall on Friday evening.
The concert, acting as a precursor to the Chapel Choir’s ‘international tour to Belgium at the end of March, saw some fantastic performances from both the school’s choir and orchestra. The evening’s programme comprised a range of musical eras, dating back to 1791 for the orchestra’s performance of “Clarinet Concerto in A Major K.622” (including some astonishing playing by soloist Hector Gardiner), all the way through to 2015, with Bloxham student George Rigby’s own composition, “Crucifixus”. The choir and orchestra also joined forces in the second half of the show to perform a number of movements from Karl Jenkins’ “Requiem”.
Congratulations to all performers and we wish the Chapel Choir luck as they prepare for their performances in Belgium, including two cathedral concerts and a service at the Menin Gate, where they will be paying their respects to those OBs who lost their lives fighting for their country.
