Congratulations to Upper Sixth Form student Josh V (Cr) who did fantastically well at the XXVII World Field Target (FT) Championships this weekend.

The Worlds, hosted on the Glanusk Estate (bordering the Brecon Beacons) in Wales, were attended by teams from 29 countries, totalling 350 shooters. Josh represented England at Junior level and did so well that he won the Silver Medal!

The victory was hard fought with over two practise and three intensive competition days, leaving Josh and an Estonian Junior tied after the final round. Having put everything into the third day, both young men were then required to shoot off for the Silver and Bronze medals in front of a huge crowd. It was incredibly stressful, with weather that was typically Welsh (wet and windy!) and courses which were hailed as the most difficult and complex ever set (raising the Worlds’ bar yet again!),’but Josh held his nerve and won Silver by two targets!

Josh also won the 2015 Junior European FT and the 2016 Junior World FT!

What a superb effort – well done Josh!

Thank you to (a very proud!) Josh’s mum, Tricia, who sent in this report
