Yesterday, Mr Skevington accompanied Sixth Form student Sam C-H to Katharine House Hospice to help install his A Level DT project which he had created for his client, James Grote, Chaplain of the Hospice.
Katharine House Hospice provide specialist palliative care for adults with life limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire & South Warwickshire. Whilst they do care for people at end of life, Katharine House also offer respite care and support for symptom management and pain relief.’
We are delighted to have received the following report from Mr Skevington following the installation of Sam’s project at Katharine House Hospice:’
“I went to Katharine House Hospice with Sam yesterday, to help him fit his A level DT project. James Grote, Sam’s client and the Chaplain of the Hospice, was very pleased and most complimentary. I was moved by the impact that Sam and his project are having.
Sam set out to design and make some symbols, features or artefacts to enable the Hospice Chapel to become a multi-faith place for worship and reflection. He wanted to do this, to show his gratitude to Katharine House and to James, for the care his Grandmother received.
James and the Hospice managers have been keen to reflect a broader range of faiths. It would appear that Sam’s project has already had a huge impact in helping to make the Hospice more accessible to all.”
In early September, a service will be held at Katharine House in which Sam’s six hanging symbols will be blessed and dedicated. The head of each of Banbury’s faiths will be present at this event and the Hospice will hope to use the occasion to raise awareness of how they are addressing the issues of being more welcoming to the Banbury areas multicultural community.
