On Tuesday 6th October, an audience congregated in the Recital Room for a lovely concert given by the school’s Music Scholars.
Many thanks to Kate Price for her report below:
The scholars kicked off this year’s music concerts in style. Well, a range of styles really… from Max’s Jazz piano performance of a Scott Joplin piece to Venetia’s animated and captivating rendition of Chopin’s Variations on Non Piu Mesta.
The concert had begun with a recorder duet, followed by Eloisa playing Sun Streams on the flute, both setting the bar high for the rest of the performers. Three cellists gave great individual performances, including the youngest performer of the evening, First Form’s Amelia. Four vocalists also entertained the audience and have been inspired to set up a little four part harmony group. They will have ample opportunities to perform together with the Chapel Choir in upcoming months, at the Icarus Concert on 1st December and the school’s Carol Concerts in the last week of term.
As always, thanks to Mr Thomson for accompanying the majority of the performers and all the preparation he put in beforehand.
Many thanks to all those who came along to support our students on the night, it was a lovely occasion.
