On Wednesday 15th March, Bongiwe Msomi, the South African netball captain visited Bloxham for a training session with the junior and senior netball teams.
Bongiwe has previously played for KZN Kingdom Stars in South Africa and played a pivotal role for her country at the 2015 Netball World Cup in Australia, helping South Africa to victory against Wales and giving a spirited performance in the 62-46 defeat to England. She has recently been selected to play for the Wasp’s netball team, which competes in the netball superleague.
The Lower School girls had a meet and greet session with Bongiwe before moving on to a training session where they received useful tips and tricks for passing at speed. Bongiwe also worked with the seniors, helping them with their attacking movement and bringing the ball through court.
Staff and students had a really awesome afternoon and are looking forward to watching Bongiwe in action when they take a coach load of girls to the Wasps v Thunder game at the Ricoh arena next Friday evening. Thank you so much to Bongiwe for giving the girls such a fantastic afternoon!
