Izzy and Charlie Yates have been busy competing in nationwide Mounted Games events this summer, with both coming away with medals
Bloxham students Izzy and Charlie Yates have both had successful seasons competing at Mounted Games, culminating in wins at the National Teams Championships – for Izzy in the Under 14 age group and for Charlie in the Under 12 age group.
Both students compete at this fast and furious equestrian sport all around the country where teams, pairs or individuals go head to head in a series of relay races which test the children’s athleticism and bravery along with their equestrian skills.
On the back of a strong season for both, Izzy and Charlie were selected to represent the North of England for their respective age groups at the Home Internationals, held in the New Forest. Both teams ended up finishing third, behind Wales and the South of England.
Izzy and Charlie also performed well at the Internationals Mounted Games Association World Individual Competition at the start of the summer.’ Both qualified for the final where Izzy finished fifth and Charlie earned himself a place on the rostrum, finishing third.
The final competition of the season is World Pairs which will be held at Newark this year, where Charlie is hoping to add the World Title to the Welsh and British Pairs titles he achieved earlier this year.
