Yesterday, Bloxham Second Formers enjoyed a visit to Compton Verney, where they explored an exhibition entitled “Periodic Tales”

Bloxham’s Second Form pupils returned from a very informative and enjoyable art trip to Compton Verney yesterday, where they had the chance to explore an exhibition entitled “Periodic Tales”, which took inspiration from the elements of the Periodic Table.

The theme of the exhibition was the Periodic Table and the pupils were led around an exhibition of prints and sculptures produced in response to the elements. The copper sulphate encrusted car engine was a particular highlight as was the suspended, crushed silverware of Cornelia’ Parker. The pupils sketched from these and then had a practical session mixing paint, citric acid and bicarbonate of soda to create abstract exploding paintings. At the end there was time to pose for a group photo on Capability Brown’s picturesque bridge.
