Seven Upper Sixth pupils and two OBs completed the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 28th April.
Harri B., Harry H., Archie M., Jack R., Joe M., Henry H., Rob H., and OBs Kit Woodhouse (Sy 14-17) and Hector Stapleton (Sh 15-17) completed the 26 mile race with the support of parents and members of staff.
Henry H. finished first of the group in just over 5 hours and the rest of the runners trailed in all finishing before the six hour mark. Jack R., Harry H. and Harri B finished in 5 hours 10 minutes, followed by Johnnie H. and Kit Woodhouse who finished in 5 hours 30 minutes. Rob H. and Joe M. completed the race next, despite carrying some heavy injuries, and Archie M. and Hector Stapleton followed shortly after.
The group ran to fundraise for the school’s South Africa Sports Tour this summer. In addition to this, Joe M. was raising money for the Teenager Cancer Trust. Total funds raised came to around £1000 – a fantastic achievement.
