With over 75 musicians involved, a world premiere by our very own Mr King and a concerto from the finest musicians at Bloxham, there was plenty to enjoy in the Gala Concert at St Mary’s on Tuesday.

The orchestra opened with the energetic Dance of the Tumblers followed by Exodus, a new piece written for our musicians by Mr King. The audience was entertained by our string orchestra and wind soloists as they performed the sublime Two Hymn Preludes by Vaughan Williams, as well as a recorder virtuosi – imitating birds in a beautiful concerto by William Williams – by Emma D and Venetia M, accompanied by The Adderbury Ensemble.

The jazz band entertained during the interval before our stellar musicians joined forces with members of The Chipping Norton Choral Society and local community for a thrilling rendition of Vivaldi’s Gloria to bring the concert to a close. This proved a great public platform to celebrate music at Bloxham, it was also a fine demonstration of music as a unifying force.
