Lower Sixth Mini MBA app pitches are judged by panel including OB George Robbins (Wn 98-03)

Back for a second year to be part of the judging panel were Lis Lewis-Jones (Chair of school governors and CEO of Liquid PR), Andrew Jeffrey (Commercial Director of Brammer Buck and Hickman), Christopher Finch (Managing Director at Host Capital) and we were delighted to welcome Old Bloxhamist George Robbins (Wn 98-03).

George was a pupil at Bloxham between 1998 and 2003, ending his time in school as House Captain of Wilson. He was in the Bloxham first team for rugby, hockey and athletics and was a leading contributor to the school’s success in polo during that period. He is the Founder and CEO of Repay Solutions which is a financial platform for businesses to automate financial workflows, streamline their B2B & B2C payments and offer multiple payment channels. His latest business venture, Railrepay, came from his observation that 64% of people fail to make a claim for delayed and cancelled trains; Railrepay is an app that simplifies the claims process and holds train companies to account. So, with his experience in the app world, George was a perfect addition to the judging panel.

After a marathon evening of presentations and very tough questioning from the judges, Felicity C, Zoe B and Josh A came out on top. Their app was designed to improve educational standards, providing online tutoring across ten subjects at GCSE and A Level.

The runners up included app designs that showed a great deal of creative innovation. These included an app designed for users to share recipes, another to help users locate gyms, yoga and fitness classes in their local area and last but not least, an app to allow users to buy from different retailers in the same delivery.

The teams all demonstrated their creative ability and research skills, and the challenging questions from the judges provided them with food for thought and much to learn from going forward. A thoroughly enjoyable evening for all!
