During Easter break, ten pupils underwent their practice expedition for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.

The pupils, split into two groups, spent four days journeying and camping overnight navigating through challenging terrain.

Pupils camped for three nights, with the second night spent wild camping by the lake Llyn y Fan Fawr, where they had to be fully self-sufficient.

The expedition went extremely well, and despite some errors in navigation along the way, the two groups successfully completed their journey. The pupils are now ready for their assessed expedition, which takes place in the Lake District during the first week of July. After this they’ll be given their well-earned Gold Awards.
