After last week’s strong A Level performance, Bloxham students are once again celebrating success, following a very positive set of GCSE results.
Continuing last week’s trend of improvement, this year’s GCSEs saw a rise in the percentage of A*/A grades achieved ‘ up 12 percentage points ‘ and in the number of A* to B grades awarded. The overall A* to C pass rate was also up. Many students exceeded expectations with high performances in Science and English.
Commenting on the results Headmaster Paul Sanderson said: ‘Congratulations to all students. As with A Levels last week, these GCSE grades show an improvement on last year’s fine results, which is testament to the hard work of students and teachers alike. Most pleasingly, this group of young men and women have flourished both in and beyond the classroom and amongst those with the top grades are students who also play sport at the highest level, have performed at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe, are grade 8 musicians and budding entrepreneurs. To achieve academically and excel in other pursuits is truly remarkable and I am exceptionally proud of their success.’
