Bloxham’s astronauts and mission controllers track down comets in a space simulator challenge at the National Space Centre
Lower School students went on a trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester where they explored a variety of interactive hands-on galleries and enjoyed a Planetarium Show.
The students experienced what being an astronaut and working at Mission Control really feels like by taking part in a space simulator challenge. The group was divided so that the mission controllers took their stations, and the astronauts “blasted off” to the Space Station. Throughout the mission to track down a comet, students were presented with tasks and realistic dilemmas, communicating with each other via head-sets. Much fun was had by all!
