This weekend, students taking part in the summer’s Sports Tour to South Africa organised, hosted and cooked for a dining room full of hungry guests at a MasterChef-style fundraising dinner.
The event organisation was a team effort, with students handling all aspects of the evening – marketing, planning, initial preparations, Front of House, cooking, presenting and serving the food. Preparations began no less than four months ago and everyone involved should be proud of their hard work in the knowledge that it culminated in a brilliant evening for all guests and raised an impressive sum towards the Sports Tour. Particular congratulations go to Elena and Olivia for their MasterChef award winning desserts!
The MasterChef student team included Jonty, Fraser and Jack manning the bar, with Ellie, Holly and Issy attentively serving the tables. In the culinary spotlight on the night were our team of MasterChefs themselves, who produced an array of wonderful dishes:
Starters by Sam:
Poached fillet of lemon sole served on a bed of wilted spinach, dressed with a lemon and samphire butter, finished with a majestic king prawn
Main by Louisa and Nick:
Pan fried chicken breast filled with a chorizo and sundried tomato farcie, served with a medley of seasonal baby vegetables & fondant potato
Dessert by Elena and Olivia:
Rhubarb Semifreddo topped with champagne sorbet & rhubarb compote
Petit Fours by Holly, Issy and Ellie:
Decadent, handmade Petit Fours
Many thanks to all parents and friends who supported the event and enormous gratitude goes to our wonderful Catering team for all their help and advice in the kitchen!
