Yesterday saw Bloxham’s older students turn out to compete at this year’s Senior Sports Day

The conditions were tough at this year’s Bloxham School Senior Sports Day but the athletes put their all into each event.

This year’s sports days saw representatives from each House compete in a range of disciplines throughout the afternoon, with boys and girls both competing in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, high jump, long jump, shot put and javelin. Some of the boys also took part in a 1500m race, which is no mean feat in conditions such as yesterday’s.

Big congratulations to the highest scoring House of the day, Raymond, who achieved first place in each of their events. The stand out performance amongst the girls’s competition was Raymond’s Alenka, who won the high jump by jumping an impressive 1.4m.

Despite a fairly even spread of results in the boys’ competition, Crake House were deserving overall winners amongst the boys’ Houses. This included their sterling effort in the 100m sprint (Crake came in first to third), with Effiom recording a fantastic time of just 11.66 seconds. The javelin competition saw Wilson emulate Crake’s earlier success, with Ben throwing over 33m to beat his two team mates, and Seymour weren’t going to be left out, finishing their 4x400m relay in a just 4:15.97mins. Overall results saw Wilson finish second amongst the boys’ Houses, followed by Egerton and then Seymour.

Well done to all competitors for their efforts throughout the event. We’d like to send out a big thank you to all staff who played their part in making sports day such a success, either during the event itself or in preparations prior to the event.
