Last week, Bloxham CCF cadets enjoyed a fantastic week away at the CCF Summer Camp.

Students travelled to Wathgill training camp in North Yorkshire for eight days of activities and training in a tough, but enjoyable, experience revising and learning a wide range of skills.

The week started with a tactics day in which the cadets learnt about military skills for section attacks from regular soldiers before carrying out blank firing section attacks themselves. The group then moved out to the training area for a 24 hour contingent training session which comprised of a blank firing close quarter battle lane, an introduction to TIBUA (training in built up areas) and a navigation exercise. On Tuesday, cadets enjoyed a leadership and team skills day with an orienteering exercise, command task and a fascinating lecture on the history of the First World War. Wednesday was team building and confidence with cadets completing various ropes courses and the Krypton Factor assault course. The senior cadets completed a planning and leadership exercise. Towards the end of the week, the group took part in ranges with cadets live firing the 5.56mm A2 rifles at 100m and 200m followed by the DCCT which is simulated firing using various scenarios. They also took part in a TIBUA session which saw cadets learning urban patrolling, building defences and methods of entry followed by a blank firing exercise in buildings.

Congratulations to the following students who achieved awards during the week:
