Bloxham Sports Scholars enjoyed the chance to listen to Clare Griffiths, GB wheelchair basketball player, on 30th November
On Monday 30th November, Bloxham Sport Scholars enjoyed the chance to listen to Clare Griffiths speak regarding her sporting experiences as a GB wheelchair basketball player.
Clare explained how mental resilience and determination can lead to some incredible experiences and opportunities as a performer and person. She described the tragic events of her past, which saw her become paralysed after falling from her horse at just 18 years old. However, Clare described how she turned this accident into an opportunity to develop as a wheelchair basketball player and is now training in the hope of making it to her fifth Paralympics in a row at Rio in the summer!
A few students had the chance to try out her basketball wheelchair and discovered just how difficult it is to push, bounce a ball and stay balanced all at the same time.
We would like to thank Clare for taking the time to inspire our scholars and we wish her and the team the best of luck for Rio next year!
