Last night, around 50 members of Bloxham School Chapel Choir travelled to London to perform at the Icarus Trust Carol Concert in St John’s Church, Hyde Park.
It was a real pleasure for Bloxham School’s choir to accept the invitation to return to St John’s Church, Hyde Park, for a third time to support the Icarus Trust’s fundraiser, “A Christmas Serenity Carol Concert”.
The evening’s programme gave the choir the opportunity to really show what they’re capable of, with stunning renditions of festive carols and a mesmerising performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria”. The service began with Bloxham student Annabel Gulliver singing the first verse of “Once in Royal David’s City” and the rest of the 300-strong congregation joining in for the following verses. The rest of the service comprised a welcome and a couple of readings by members of the Icarus Trust, as well as some performances by students from the Royal Academy of Music, who sang songs such as “Caro Mia Ben” and “No-One But You”, accompanied by Bloxham’s own staff member Sebastian Thomson. Bloxham’s choir also sang some lovely renditions of “Ave Maria” and “Carol of the Bells” during the evening, which included a star performance from Roland Swift on the xylophone.
The Icarus Trust was founded to support those families whose lives have been affected by someone close to them who is struggling with addiction. We were pleased to offer our support at this wonderful concert, helping to raise money for such an important cause.
