This week saw a number of brilliant musical performances as students competed in Banbury Young Musician of the Year and our home-grown competition, Bloxham Young Musician of the Year.

Congratulations to Sam H.-Y. who on Sunday night was crowned Banbury’s Young Musician of the Year. The competition, hosted by Banbury Rotary Club, was judged by former BBC Young Musician of the Year judge Simon Hogg. Sam now goes through to the regional round of the competition, along with Sophie L., winner of the senior singing category. Sophie was also victorious in the senior duets category with sister Georgie L. Finally, the Bloxham Trio were winners in the ensemble category.

Tuesday night saw a number of great performances in the school Recital Room for our own competition, Bloxham Young Musician of the Year. Congratulations go to Harry D.-S. for claiming the title. winning with a stunning performance of Debussy’s Arabesque No.1, transporting guest adjudicator Jean Carter to the concert hall with his incredibly musical performance.

Other winners from the evening include: Shamilla M for’Cello in the Beginner-Grade 3 category and Max T for Vocals in the Grade 4-6 category.
