Last week, Second Form students enjoyed a fun-filled week of adventure activities in the French Alps.
The group of 24 students and 4 members of staff departed Bloxham early Sunday morning and began their journey, flying from Gatwick to Turin, Italy, and eventually arriving at Les Vigneaux, Briancon, France, where they set up camp for the week.
The week consisted of adventure activities such as white-water rafting, mountain biking and canyoning, with students also getting a taste of zip-lining and via ferrata, a mountaineering course through the Alpine canyons. Students were also encouraged to prep and cook their own food one evening, having visited Vallouise market earlier in the day to buy local produce.
The group enjoyed a brilliant week of sunshine, and even managed to fit in some relaxation time by La Roche de Rame lake. This proved vital for energy levels later in the week as students undertook a grueling two-day hike through the Claree valley, walking from Nevache to Drayeres Refuge via Lac Muandes.
All in all, a brilliant week of fun, adrenaline and teamwork enjoyed by everyone. A huge thanks to OB Giles Cornah (Wn 94-97) and his wife Anne for their on-going hospitality and support, which without them, this trip would be unable to go ahead, and to Mrs H, Mr Cowley, Phil and Mr Sanderson for their support and hardwork in ensuring the trip ran smoothly and successfully.
