The Old Bloxhamists had a great day at the Under 21 Cronk-Cunis Rugby Festival 2017 at Richmond Athletic Ground in Twickenham this weekend.
Charlie Gulliver (Sy 10-15) did a fantastic job to assemble a squad of 19 recent OB players for this tournament, which featured 15 a side and 12 a side sections from some of the country’s leading rugby-playing schools. Bloxham played in the Plate (12 a side) tournament, beating Canford 35-10 and Christ’s Hospital 17-5 but losing to St Benedict’s 21-10 and eventual winners The Perse 12-0. Charlie reported: ‘No silverware unfortunately but a fantastic day. The weather was scorching, and everyone really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it to Old Bloxhamists for next year. The standard was very high, and some of the teams were incredible, but that was expected. It was brilliant to bring everyone to play together again and have a laugh during and afterwards!’
Our thanks go to Charlie for a tremendous job of organising and captaining the squad and for sourcing the smart new kit for the OBs, as can be seen in the photograph, and to the rest of the OB team who played fantastically!
