Sixth Form student Jessie U. and her two friends Lucy and Katie have raised almost ‘4,000 (with Gift Aid) this weekend by completing a 24 hour paddle challenge.
From a humble target of ‘500 in aid of Shelter and NHS charities, just two days after launching their fundraising page the girls had already upped their target twice to ‘1,000.
Their schedule saw Katie take the first hour’s paddle at 00:00 on Saturday morning, followed by Jessie and then Lucy. Each of the girls completed their hour slot with a smile on their face and with support from their families. They live streamed each of their paddles, in total Jessie rowed 50miles!
PE Teacher, Mrs Katie Collins had this to say, ‘What a fantastic achievement Jessie and her friends were able to accomplish. A truly remarkable feat to raise awareness and so much money for those in need in this current pandemic. True Bloxhamist spirit shown throughout. ‘
There is still time to donate to their fundraiser: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/24hrpaddlemachineJLK
