The School fosters many links with the local community through meetings, joint projects and provision of its facilities.

We work closely with schools in our area, and continue to build relationships particularly with those from the Warriner Partnership. Where possible, we make our facilities and teaching expertise available for these schools and over the past few years have held sporting, art, music and science workshops, in which local primary children have participated.

Our dedicated Outreach Officer co-ordinates our outreach programme with local primary schools. We have been able to provide broad curriculum support to Bloxham Primary School in Art, Cookery, DT and Maths, and offer a range of sporting and broader curriculum activities to various local schools including:

  • Hockey, netball, squash, rugby and cricket events in six different primary schools
  • Hosting of sports day for St John’s Priory
  • Hosting the Oxfordshire County Cricket festival and NOSSP Hockey Festival

Additionally, Bloxham School has assisted local schools in running first aid courses and pool rescue courses to help schools in meeting legislative requirements.

The School swimming pool and sports facilities are also made available to clubs and organisations, including youth football, local and county cricket, local and county hockey, triathlon, swimming and Scouts.

Community service

As a part of the Sixth Form programme, all students in the Lower Sixth undertake a year of community service to a specific project. This sees pupils engaged in a range of options from working in Green Pastures Nursing Home to running clubs for local primary school children and helping to pack boxes at Banbury’s Foodbank. Pupils can also support the local community by helping with the upkeep of the village and also with the gardens of elderly members of the Bloxham parish.

All pupils within the school are encouraged to think of others before themselves. Many charity fundraising events take place in school, for a range of national and local charities. Additionally, many of our pupils take on feats of endurance of their own to raise funds for charities close to their hearts.
