On Wednesday a group of Fifth and Lower Sixth form students took part in a European Youth Parliament Regional Forum at the Oxford Union.
Competing against other schools in a series of complex debates based on resolutions proposed by the European Commission representing the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Bloxham team, ably led by Holly B proposed the resolution that gig economy workers should be protected by employment rights.
A heated debate ended dramatically in a tie, but with two abstainers eventually persuaded to support the motion by a rousing summation from Ben L, Bloxham ultimately triumphed. Bloxham students made strong contributions throughout the day’s debates, with Finn C particularly effective at quick-thinking direct responses.
