Upper Sixth Form Student, Zoe O. is hoping to train as a Nurse next year. In preparation for her future career, Zoe has been dedicating her own time to support her community through these difficult times.

In addition to completing her school work and during the Easter break, Zoe has taken on two part time jobs as well as becoming an NHS Volunteer.

Shopping can be a particularly stressful experience for many at this time, with the concern of Covid-19 and social distancing measures in place. Zoe is currently an employee at two supermarkets in Banbury and has played an important role in supporting the shoppers; providing gentle reminders of social distancing rules, ensuring the shelves are well stocked and serving customers with a smile on her face . ‘I go home after every shift knowing that I have made someone’s day by just being at work during these difficult times.’ The best feeling is when someone I serve says ‘Thank you just for being here.’ I get a great sense of achievement when helping others.’

Most importantly, Zoe has registered herself as an NHS Volunteer through the GoodSAM Volunteering App and has already completed over 464 hours. ‘This app is a great way to help venerable people, who find it difficult to leave their house during this time.’ Zoe uses her daily hour of exercise to get shopping, essentials and prescriptions for vulnerable people in her community.

Another great example of our students demonstrating great acts kindness to help those in need.
