An Easter message from Padre Duncan Weaver.

‘A special Easter message from Padre:

‘Felices Pascuas’, or ‘Happy Easter’ in English. I have been trying to learn some Spanish during these times and as I am far from being a linguist, it has been a struggle.’ My grappling with new words, endings and sounds is a reflection of the unfamiliar and uncertain times we live in, and there are moments when I certainly feel like giving up on Espa’ol. Today, is a day for hope as the followers of Jesus discovered, following their leader’s death on a cross. Without hope, confused and in despair their discovery of an empty tomb and appearances of Jesus gave them new hope, that God was with them, and had a purpose and plan. That is the Easter hope, the hope that God is with us and that nothing can separate us from his love. The future is uncertain yes, but we should not be dismayed, or give up.

Paul the apostle, asks the question, ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? and then unlike a good teacher gives them the answer, Sin embargo, en todo esto somos m’s que vencedores por medio de aquel que nos am’.’ Which of course is ‘No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.’ A Great truth to hold onto in these days of uncertainty whatever language you speak. Felices Pascuas para ti.
