Last weekend, our Lower Sixth geographers travelled to the Gower Peninsula in South Wales, on a three day residential trip, to study human and physical geography.
The trip proved a fantastic occasion to study the geographical extremities of Wales, such as the coastal landforms at Three Cliffs Bay and river features and formations in the Brecon Beacons. The group also studied rural de-population in Ystradfellte, Southern Powys; urbanisation, deindustrialisation, counter-urbanisation and changing urban morphology in Swansea; sustainable energy and the proposed tidal lagoon power plant in Swansea Bay; and dune psammoseres and transects (based on data from Oxwich Bay).’
