It was great to see so many Old Bloxhamists and friends of the school at the Dewey on Sunday for OB Day
Every year, the OB men’s hockey team, Banbury Hockey Club and the OB netball team return to school to play against Bloxham for Old Bloxhamist Day.’
The Dewey viewing gallery and stalls were busy with spectators ready to cheer on the teams. The netball started the day’s fixtures, with the OB side captained by Louisa Heathcote (Ry 2009-16). The OBs presented the school with a fast game, but the latter were ultimately triumphant, with 39 goals to the OBs’ 24.
In the hockey, which was once again played in memory of Paddy Kellett (Wn 2005-2010), we tried a new format which worked well. Eight teams played in two pools in a seven a side tournament which involved over 60 players. The winners of each pool played each other in the final, the 2nd placed teams in a 3rd/4th play off and so on. The finishing order is posted below.
Seymour Housemaster Matt Bull, captain of Banbury Hockey Club, received the trophy for the tournament winners from Rory Kellett and Old Bloxhamist Joe Cooper was awarded the cup for player of the tournament by Jacky Kellett. Further photos can be found on our Facebook page.
