Alex Berry (Sy 2003-06) is to become the youngest Cathedral Director of Music in the country, when he takes up his new post.

Amazing achievement for Old Bloxhamist Alex: the youngest Cathedral Director of Music in the country.

Old Bloxhamist Alex Berry (Sy 2003-06) is due to take up his new post as Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral in January 2017. Alex was Organ Scholar at Queens’ College, Cambridge from September 2009 to July 2012 and has built up an impressive amount of experience through stints at Ely Cathedral, where he spent two years as Assistant Organist to the Girls’ Choir, King’s College, Cambridge, where he was Organ Scholar to King’s Voices, their mixed-voice undergraduate choir, and most recently Magdalen College, Oxford, where he was Assistant Organist. He is the Founder and Director of the Mercian Consort and has recently performed as far afield as Kaliningrad Cathedral, St Elizabeth’s Church, Szeged in Hungary, and Bloxham Parish Church.
