Bloxham School First Formers enjoyed an action-packed camp at the Woodlands activity centre, Glasbury on Wye

Bloxham School First Formers had a brilliant time during an action-packed and fun-filled camp at the Woodlands activity centre in Glasbury on Wye.

The First Form travelled to Wales on Friday and took part in a number of outdoor activities and teamwork exercises. Highlights included a torch-lit orienteering activity and launching themselves from the trees for a speedy ride on the zip wire. There was a night walk through the village and woods, which was great fun despite the rumours that scary clowns hid in the forest. The First Formers then scaled the dizzying heights of the high ropes course, whilst swinging like monkeys through the trees, helped each other over the obstacle course, and tested their determination on the climbing wall before walking backwards off the top platform to abseil back down. ‘Wet weather did little to dampen spirits on a canoe trip down the river, and in fact made no difference to the already soaked children after turning an upside down canoe into a water slide. One of the funniest moments was when to the delight of onlookers, Mr. Redpath accidentally capsized his canoe with Jada in it!

The camp was a huge success and every child overcame a fear or learned something new, whether that was being away from home for the weekend, trying a new activity (caving/rock climbing/canoeing) or simply learning how to work as a team in order to set the dining room for dinner!
