First Form pupils recently enjoyed a day of cross-curricular activities to mark the approaching bi-centenary of the Battle of Waterloo
To recognise the forthcoming bi-centenary of the Battle of Waterloo, the History and Drama departments linked up to provide a day of collaborative learning for First Form students, which focused on the human side of the battle.
Bloxham’s youngest pupils spent the morning using archival primary source material to carry out research into a specific soldier who fought at Waterloo, before producing a drama piece looking at re-telling part of that individual’s story in the afternoon. This was particularly powerful in terms of connecting with the human emotions of those who went to war, and was invaluable in looking to give a voice to particular soldiers who have largely been forgotten by history.
