Last weekend, Bloxham enjoyed its annual Founderstide celebrations, including a number of different activities throughout the day and the glamour of the evening’s Founderstide Ball.
Last Saturday saw a huge number of the current and past members of the Bloxham community reunite at the school to take part in the annual Founderstide celebrations. The school was alive with excitement throughout the morning, with the young (and less young alike!) getting involved in all that was on offer. The Science Department had organised a vast array of fun scientific activities for our visitors to try out, including a laser assault course and a chance to meet the ever-popular members of the school menagerie. Also on offer was an OB v current students cricket match, the CCF shooting range, Come and Sing with Mr Jordan in the Chapel, art and design displays, Henry V rehearsals, and OB tennis to name just a few. Then, after some chatting and reminiscences in-House, it was time for the afternoon activities to begin. Families split off to their chosen event, either House Drama performances, EPQ presentations, rounders or a music concert in the Chapel. In addition, there was also an inspiring key note speech from Jamie McDonald (aka. The Adventureman) who launched the Superhero Foundation back in 2012, and who has since taken part in a number of world record-breaking adventures to raise money to support sick children both in the UK and abroad.
That evening, parents, OBs, staff and Sixth Formers got dressed to the nines to attend the annual Founderstide Ball, one of the highlights of the school calendar, and this year’s certainly didn’t disappoint! The Great Hall was transformed with the help of marquees, glowing drinks bars, colour-changing lamps, stunning flower displays and a dancefloor, into the most incredible venue for a night of good food and dancing. All those who attended had a wonderful evening and it’s with huge thanks that we recognise all of those who put in so many hours into creating such a fantastic event. The food was delicious, the dancefloor was packed and the atmosphere was electric- a brilliant night was had by all!

Access your copy of this year’s Founders Times newspaper here, containing all of the hot gossip from the day. This is the second edition of the Founders Times after its successful launch at last year’s event. Our budding team of journalists comprised Lower Sixth girls, who worked extremely hard throughout the day to collate all the information required to make such a brilliant publication (and it was certainly enjoyed by the attendees at the Ball that evening, who found copies on their tables to be enjoyed over dinner!).
