Exham student Charlie Bygate is preparing for tonight’s Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) debut, as he takes on the role of ‘Boy’ in several performances of “The Shoemaker’s Holiday”.
Exham House student Charlie will be performing in tonight’s (Thursday 11 December) first preview performance of Thomas Dekker’s comedy ‘The Shoemaker’s Holiday’, produced by the RSC at The Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. Charlie will share the role of ‘Boy’ with two other boys, William Watson and Sebastian Dibb, with the three young actors alternating in the role.’ Charlie is extremely excited at the prospect of his upcoming professional stage debut, and has been rehearsing hard over the past couple of months, working with RSC voice and movement experts and meeting some well-known faces from the stage. The play, which was originally performed on New Year’s Eve 1599, follows the rise to power of shoemaker Simon Eyre, who eventually makes it to the position of Lord Mayor of London.
