Old Bloxhamist Ellie was recently awarded the Quintiles Women in Science Prize to recognise her achievements whilst completing her degree at the University of Exeter
On gaining her A Levels at Bloxham, Old Bloxhamist Eleanor White has gone on to study for a degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Exeter, where she was recently awarded the Quintiles Women in Science Prize.
Back in November, 22-year old Ellie was awarded the Quintiles Women in Science Prize by Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne at the Medical School’s annual awards ceremony. Mr Osborne attended the ceremony as he continued his tour on the theme of Women in the Economy. Ellie received this award to recognise her excellent networking skills, which helped her gain her place in clinical research projects, as well as her professionalism and proactive leadership amongst staff and her fellow students.
On achieving her prize, Ellie said, ‘I’m delighted to win this award. Science is a rewarding and engaging career regardless of gender, and I’m a strong advocate of anything that can inspire people to get involved, or to consider science as a career.’
