The whole of Bloxham School marked Armistice Day with a memorial service held on the Headmaster’s Lawn. The CCF cadets also took part in the village parade on Sunday where they, alongside other representatives from the village, paid tribute to those who fell.’
Today’s ceremony was a poignant affair, with the whole school gathered around the Headmaster’s Lawn to listen to words of remembrance by members of staff and to enjoy a performance of The Last Post, performed by one of the students. Mr Batten also read out a list of names of all those members of the Bloxham community who fell during the two great wars.

On Sunday 9th November, a group of Bloxham CCF cadets were proud to stand alongside the Bloxham Branch of The Royal British Legion on parade at the Bloxham War Memorial, where the Bloxham Service of Remembrance took place. Many of the‘youth groups of the village were there to pay their respects at this Act of Remembrance, including the Scouts and Brownies.
Our cadets have now been attending this event for a number of years, and it’s lovely to see the number of attendees ever on the increase. Cadet RSM Sandy Thompson laid the wreath at the War Memorial, accompanied on either side by Cadet CSM Finlay Smith and Cadet C/Sgt Harry Ashworth. Cadet C/Sgt Hugh Johnston carried the Royal British Legion Standard, accompanied by Emily Chamberlain. The remainder of our number formed part of the squad, beside the Royal British Legion members.
Following the service at the Bloxham Village War Memorial, The Royal British Legion and CCF Squad marched together up to the Parish Church. Major de Gale and the Standard Party remained to represent Bloxham CCF at the church service.
We were extremely proud to be playing a small part in this Act of Remembrance.
