Congratulations to Bloxham Equestrian on a hugely successful weekend of competitions

Bloxham Equestrian are celebrating some hugely impressive performances at a range of events over the weekend.’

Many thanks to Fran Bird for the report below:

On Saturday 4th October Bloxham School took teams of riders from Exham House to Southam College’s show jumping at Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell. The courses were up to height and allowed to be much bigger in the jump off than the size of the class suggests. Unfortunately, our upper school teammates couldn’t join us on this occasion and, primarily, we had fielded teams who were in need of building their confidence and experience. But, what a day the younger pupils had! Bloxham Black Team was made up of Gabe Cardona, Ione Dalla Mura, Naomi Rathmall and Charlie Yates – Gabe was on a new pony, Naomi borrowed a horse from Regal Equestrian and had never competed in a competition before and Charlie was riding his sister’s pony for the first time. Ione was our team member with the most experience at this level. However, they put in great performances to achieve a team win in the 65cm class and 4th place in the 75cm. Individually, Ione came 2nd, Naomi 7th and Gabe 8th in the 65cm class.’Bloxham White Team comprising Tom Bird, Grace Hopkins, George Hopwell and Amy Skan all continued the theme with a team win in both the 75cm and the 85cm classes. Individual placings saw Tom finish in 4th place for both the 75cm and 85cm class and 5th in the 95cm class, whilst Grace achieved 7th place in the 85cm class.

Sunday saw three teams travel to the Winchester House Hunter Trials at Foxhill Farm, Eyden, and, once again, all teams put up fabulous performances. The Novice Team of Sam Canale Hopwell, George Hopwell, Sophie Hopkins and Charlie Yates won their team competition with individual placings of 5th and 8th for George and Sophie respectively. The Intermediate Team of Liv Marston, Eliza Rymer, Jack Steel and India Willes all jumped fabulous clear rounds to finish in 5th position. The Open Team of Lillie Bailey, Alice Haynes, Molly Kirk and India Willes achieved the fifth victory for Bloxham over the weekend, as well as individual placings for India and Alice in equal 3rd, and Molly in 5th. Andrew Smith competed individually at then event and went on to win his Open class.

It was an extremely busy weekend for all those involved in the competitions but such a rewarding one. Congratulations as ever to all our pupils on being a credit to Bloxham School.
