Last Thursday, some of our Sixth Form students visited Wroxton College, forming discussion groups with fellow students on a range of topics

Wroxton College is an offshoot of Fairleigh Dickinson University on the east coast of America. Every 15 weeks, a group of between 45 and 60 of these US university students stay and study at Wroxton College. Last Thursday’s trip was the third one Bloxham students have taken part in and saw our students holding small discussion groups with their new American friends on a range of topics, including media and celebrities, sport, politics, education, business and economics.

We then had a larger discussion, followed by an informal supper where all the students mingled together. Max Langer of Egerton House said, “I really enjoyed the visit. I liked how we were given the freedom to steer the conversation in the direction that we wanted and so were able to cover a lot more subject matter. Also, being able to eat dinner with them was really enjoyable as we were able to have more informal conversations in small groups”. Tom Haynes of Wilson commented, “I really enjoyed the visit last week. I found it really interesting to discuss the different political systems, welfare state and elections, as well as little things such as tail-gating.”

We are certainly looking forward to more visits in the future!
