Stephen Eberlin (Ry 79-84) passed away on 4 December 2023. Stephen was a successful athlete at Bloxham, his prowess at the discus earning him Half Colours in his final year.
The Bloxhamist 1979 commented on his rugby as a third former: “Eberlin was a giant of a forward, but his performances did not generally match his physique.” By the time he had made it into the 2nd XV it was observed that “at second row, Chris Cooney (Wn 79-84) and Stephen Eberlin will become very useful players next season when they have gained in weight and strength. As it was, they contested the line outs and loose play with great vigour.”
