Our Catering Department were delighted to be re-awarded a 5* rating following Tuesday’s audit by the Environmental Health Inspection.
These audits occur approximately every 18 months and the inspectors will turn up unannounced, giving the team no time to prepare for their arrival. A 5* rating is the highest standard that can be achieved and is based on three main categories: Confidence in Management, Monitoring and Recording, and Structure and Facilities.
The auditor was extremely complimentary about the systems in place in terms of recording and monitoring, and she was impressed with the knowledge of each staff member, commenting that it was a pleasure to visit such a well-run unit.
This is a fantastic achievement by a department who works incredibly hard to ensure that students and staff alike are provided with healthy, wholesome food on a daily basis. Most food outlets are proud enough to display four stars, but our department has now retained their five stars rating on consecutive audits – a brilliant achievement. This award is a credit to each member of the team, all of whom take great pride in what they do, and particularly to Viv, who works tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of her department.
