The Easter break saw Bloxham’s 1st XI travel to Desert Springs, Spain, to compete in a challenging pre-season tournament, The Cricketer magazine’s inaugural 100 competition.
The tournament saw matches against Westminster, Canford, Dean Close, Epsom and St. Paul’s. Captain George D. comments: “We had four days of cricket with five matches, each being played to a high level with tough competition. We finished on a high with a great win against a strong Dean Close side, due to a class knock from Will T. The resort was incredible with staff going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Overall the tour to Desert Springs was thoroughly enjoyed and hope that the future teams of Bloxham cricketeers will be able to enjoy the outstanding facilities which we were provided with.”
Bloxham’s Head of Cricket, Greg Webber, reports: “The trip to Desert Springs provided invaluable warm weather training and an opportunity to train in a first-class standard facilities. We were up against high class opposition, against several of the top 20 cricketing schools on the UK circuit. It was a brilliant opportunity for team bonding in purpose built cricketing environment which allowed the boys to learn more about their game and spend time with other young cricketers. Managing work load and spending time as a group has helped the boys to understand how recovery, training and rest are all key to high end sports performance.”
We look forward to seeing the 1st team’s performance this term. Good luck boys!
