We were treated to a superb evening of music with pupils showcasing Bloxham School’s extraordinary musical talent. St Mary’s Church in Bloxham was full to capacity with an audience of parents, pupils, OBs and friends of the School.

Alex Redpath, Director of Music, commented in the programme that ‘Music is a wonderful and powerful thing…..[The concert] is a celebration of music as a force for good’ and would include ‘a programme of music that reflects loss, love, empowerment and excitement’.

Over 100 Bloxham pupils performed music from the early classical period through to London’s West End of 2024. The School’s stellar ensembles were out in force with Orchestra, String Quintet, Show Choir, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band, Exham Choir, Harmonix and Chapel Choir all performing. We also enjoyed an exceptional piano solo from Exham pupil, Thomas, playing Beethoven’s Sonata No. 1 in F Minor.

The concert culminated with the Chapel Choir singing the incredibly challenging Mozart Requiem. The work is not often performed by a school choir, but the Bloxham pupils rose to the challenge and performed it beautifully, with confidence and maturity.

A number of OBs and Friends of Bloxham returned to sing with Chapel Choir which was a wonderful way to welcome the wider Bloxham School musical community back to Bloxham.
